SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATION (CITS7200)
Assignment 4Part of your work for your thesis will involve the critical assessment of other people's work. Their work can be communicated in a number of ways, but critical to our field is the verbal presentation, either in a seminar or at a conference presentation. Write a review of at least two of the research seminars given in the School of Computer Science & Software Engineering this semester. Details of forthcoming seminars are available on The Seminar Page. Choose a seminar you think is excellent, and one you think is poor, and explain why you think so. Criteria you can use for your selection can be guided by the paper in your Readings and References handout called ``How to Present a Paper in Theoretical Computer Science'' by Ian Parberry. See also the link on the unit home page How to give a bad (good) talk by David Messerschmitt. Your seminar review paper should be no more than two pages in length. Papers are due by noon on Monday 2 June. Please email (not hand-deliver) your paper to the unit co-ordinator. You are required to submit both the finished paper and the LaTeX source. Use the unit web page for all resources relating to this unit.
